As spring approaches we receive many phone calls about customers looking to build their dream pool. Pools are a great way to enjoy the summer months with friends and family. If you are ready to own a pool, but do not know where to start, let us help you create your dream pool!
Find a Builder
The first step in building a pool is finding a reputable pool builder. If you are like most of our clients, you ask for certifications, references from past clients, portfolio of work and most importantly, you ask for knowledge of experience. A pool is an investment and you should be sure that you are comfortable with your builder. If you are looking for a full backyard design make sure you ask your builder if they do landscaping and hardscaping along with pools.
Estimate your Costs
The cost of building a swimming pool will vary depending on the size and design of your pool. Be upfront with your pool builder on your budget. Do not be shy about your budget with your builder. We love making sure our clients get the most for their budget and so should your builder. Getting an estimate from a builder is very important. Make sure to let them know if you want water features, lights, colored concrete and landscaping. Adding these features during construction, could put a strain on your budget if not planned for ahead of time. Different designs such as Gothic or Grecian could end up costing more money than a kidney shaped pool. Concrete, vinyl liner and hybrid pools also vary in costs. Do not let these be overlooked on your bid, especially if fencing is required in your state.
Choosing your Design
After finalizing your budget with your builder, you can choose from a range of pool designs. Pools can be designed in all forms, from rectangle to curved edges. If you dream it your pool builder can build it. Consider the landscaping around your pool also. Your pool design should be designed around you and your family and your intentions of how you will use your pool. If your pool builder has a design software ask them to draw up your design with landscaping so you can picture your backyard.
Benefits of Owning a Pool
There are initial costs of owning a swimming pool, but there are also many benefits. If you enjoy entertaining people your backyard can be transformed into a beautiful oasis. You will also save money on annual pool fees to your neighborhood pool and transportation costs to get there. Having a swimming pool in your backyard could help improve your overall health and fitness. The one benefit most homeowners see is that the value of your house goes up when you are ready to sell.
